Summer Staff Positions

The staff at Eden Village West comprise a family with a shared goal: to create the best summer experience for our campers. This requires a tremendous amount of energy, hard work, patience, and flexibility. The days are long and demanding.

Staff Requirements

All summer staff at Eden Village West are required to be at least 18 years old, graduated high school, and have experience working with youth. All staff are required to provide multiple references, pass a background check, and participate in an extensive staff training.

Bunk Staff

Counselors care for, supervise, and live with a group of campers and are their primary caretakers. Counselors are responsible for shaping the culture of their bunk, being in tune with each camper’s individual experience, and maintaining safety at all times. Counselors are also assigned a program area to support throughout the summer.

Tribe Leaders supervise and support counselors and bunk life at camp. This includes planning evening programs, providing camper care support, working with counselors to grow their skills throughout the summer, and supporting camp in many other ways. This position works with both counselors and camp leadership to run camp and ensure an excellent staff and camper experience for everyone!

The Teen Experience Coordinator plays an essential role in supporting, managing, & implementing our Junior Staff program, and overseeing our rising 10th & 11th grade tribe, Keter. Develop curriculum for young staff & support counselors and campers with the Keter Experience. Coordinate with various departments at camp to ensure the smooth running of both programs.

Program Staff

Spend your summer basking in the sun as the Aquatics Director at Eden Village West! In this vibrant role, you’re not only responsible for ensuring water safety at the camp’s pool and the river but also for leading a range of exciting and educational water-based programs. You’ll step into a leadership position, honing your skills as an educator and group leader, as you supervise, train, and empower a team of about 7 lifeguards. Your team will be instrumental in maintaining the safety of all waterfront areas and in orchestrating various aquatic activities for campers of all ages, every day.

Bring your food values deliciously to life as the Culinary Arts Specialist at Eden Village West! Eden Village West’s song leaders are the backbone of our camp culture. From morning meditative song circles to every after-meal blessing and song session, you’ll be bringing our community together through music. At EVW, we don’t listen to any recorded music- we make it all ourselves! Wellness Staff

Oversee the health of our campers and staff. Our ideal nurse will be excited by the fact that there’s a medicinal herb garden just outside the health center. We are looking for a nurse to work the whole summer, as well as nurses to work in three-week intervals.

Familiar and comfortable with cooking vegan, gluten-free, dairy free, and allergen friendly cuisine alternatives at each meal. Schedule and Supervise a kitchen team to prepare and organize three organic and locally grown meals, made from scratch, each day. Be prepared to cultivate a long-term relationship with camp, and guide our (amazing) camp food’s direction going forward. Requires 5+ years of experience in a kitchen.

Staff FAQ

Working at Eden Village West is a rewarding and unique experience. Each day our staff change the lives of our campers. Our staff is a strong, close-knit community who love waking up each morning at camp. If you love working with kids and being part of a team, you’ll love working at Eden Village West!

At a minimum you need to be at least 18 years old, graduated high school, have experience working with youth, and excited to work at camp! Many staff positions require additional certifications and training.

That’s great! You can mark down which positions you’re interested in when you fill out your staff application. Once we receive your application, we’ll be in touch with you about which positions we think are the best fit.

Now! Staff applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Most positions are filled by mid-January. In late-January we will update the staff page to reflect which positions are still open.

Camp is located on 350 acres in Healdsburg, California, about 70 miles north of San Francisco. We have a private stretch of the Russian River, an outdoor pool, miles of hiking trails, a teaching kitchen and bakery, woodshop, ceramics studio, outdoor amphitheater and fire circles, a large gym with basketball courts, and outdoor playing fields.

Camp is just two miles from downtown Healdsburg, ~12 miles from Santa Rosa, ~20 miles from the Pacific Ocean, and near countless state parks.

The majority of our staff live in dorm rooms with other staff members. Bunk staff live in rooms adjacent to the rooms of the campers in their age group. Our dorms are equipped with electricity, internet, bathrooms, showers, and laundry.

Every staff member receives a day off each week to rest, rejuvenate, and build community with other staff. Break time to refresh is also built into the daily schedule.
