Activities
Culinary Arts
Put on your chef’s hat and step into the kitchen where we turn the bounty of the land into delicious dishes and farm-to-table feasts! In our culinary arts center and bakery, campers work alongside experienced chefs to develop their cooking skills and prepare delicacies to share with the rest of the camp community. Special areas of focus include breads and pastries, cheeses, bountiful salads, soups and broths, dips, vegan entrees, and desserts. All of the food we prepare and eat at camp is 100% organic, 100% kosher, 100% of the time.
Farm Village
From seed to harvest, our campers run our organic farm – including collecting eggs from chickens, bringing goats to pasture, harvesting herbs for sun tea, setting up drip irrigation, and harvesting and arranging flowers for the Shabbat tables. Campers who choose to spend time in the Farm Village will develop their skills and confidence to grow their own food and make use of abundance – or shefa – either by donating or preserving our harvest.
Forest Village
Gather round in the forest and immerse yourself in the wisdom of the trees. In the Forest Village, campers safely build and tend fire, create shelters, tell stories, make their own bows and arrows, track animals, carve spoons and bowls, find wild edible plants, and more. Campers who choose to spend time in Forest Village will laugh, play, and explore, while they gain new skills, grow their self-confidence, and develop a profound feeling of kinship with the natural world.
Herbalism
You’re invited into a magical world of healing and friendship in our herbal apothecary! Immerse yourself in the wisdom of the plants under the guidance of expert mentors as you learn to identify, harvest, prepare, and use our herbal plant friends! Our campers love making health-boosting tinctures, soothing salves, delicious syrups, fragrant teas, healing poultices and more as we boost our DIY skills and gain a foundation in botany and herbal remedies.
River
Eden Village West is situated on a magnificent 350 acre campus with several miles of private river frontage along the Russian River. Under the careful supervision of our lifeguards, campers enjoy swimming, river exploration, tubing, raft-making, splashing, and general river merriment.
Archery
Draw, aim, release! There is something deeply satisfying about the ancient art of archery. Campers develop hard skills with both modern bows and arrows as well as homemade ones, while also internalizing the life skills of setting an intention, aiming for a goal, missing your mark, and trying again!
Crafting
Get creative in our art studio! Our campers tinker, experiment, and come home with their own jewelry, clothing, candles and Judaica. Our campers learn how to craft from the natural world around them, making beeswax candles, spinning their own yarn from fresh wool, and digging clay from the river. You can learn to knit, sew, crochet, make natural dyes and mosaics, paint murals, and much more.
Music
There’s no canned music at Eden Village, which makes space for our rich live music culture. Through guitar and ukulele lessons, song-writing, drum circles, jam band, song sessions and more, we come home from camp with music in our hearts and in our fingertips.
Pottery
With a mix of hand-building and throwing on our pottery wheels, campers in the pottery studio make all sorts of beautiful projects. Everything from cups and bowls to candlestick holders and leaf prints to free-form sculpture and more!
Woodworking
Our woodworking shop is a fully equipped program space with hand tools, machine tools, work benches, and plenty of space for exploration, solid design, and creativity. Campers learn shop safety and tool technique, and create drums, flutes, benches, stools, and more from a variety of materials!
Drama
In our drama program, campers get to use theater games, improv techniques, costumes, and play to grow in confident self-expression and bring their stories to life!
Sports
Throughout the day, campers have opportunities to be active and play. From soccer, basketball, and volleyball, to frisbee and yoga, we offer a variety of movement options in a non-competitive, supportive environment.
